Judson Avenue daylighting completed; speed cushions to come

New red curbs designed to increase pedestrian safety on Judson Avenue at the Foerster and Gennessee intersections has been completed by SFMTA. This prevents cars and RVs from parking in such a way to block pedestrian visibility at intersections. The measure were approved a few months ago. Last week speed cushions were also approved for Judson for the blocks between Circular and Gennessee, further addressing this dangerous stretch where cars speed. The cushions will be installed sometime in the near future.

Party time? Rent the Sunnyside Clubhouse

The Sunnyside Clubhouse can now be rented for events through the San Francisco Recreation and Parks Department.

Available rental hours are Saturdays from 2-6pm and Sundays from 9am-1pm and 2-6pm. The cost is $82/hour. The rental includes the Clubhouse, with access to its kitchen, 6 tables and 20 adult-sized chairs. The adjacent basketball court is not included in the rental and remains accessible for community use during events.

We thank all of our volunteers for joining the team to keep San Francisco Clean! But what is the difference between Graffiti Vandalism and Graffiti Art? One word… Permission!

Here are some programs that teach the difference between the two.

Free concert at Sunnyside Conservatory on July 11

On Thursday July 11 (7 to 8 PM) you are invited to a free music event featuring local talent, sponsored by Sunnyside Neighborhood Association, at Sunnyside Conservatory (236 Monterey Blvd):

Young, Old, New and Bold: a concert of new and old tunes, young performers, not so young performers.

  • The Sunny Winds, comprised of neighborhood denizens: Danessa Miller, clarinet, Ruth Keys, flute, Louise Pescetta, oboe, Jason Gibbs, bassoon, and Carol Yarbrough, horn. Guest: Alex Strachan, horn.
  • The Jostlein Players: Thomas and Trish Jostlein, St. Louis Symphony horns, and their sons, Klaus, violin and Max, cello.
