May 10: Balboa Reservoir community meeting

The Balboa Reservoir Community Advisory Committee meets Monday, May 10, 2021, at 6 PM on Zoom. Public comment always welcome.

The two main agenda items are a presentation from SFMTA about the plans to improve the Frida Kahlo-Ocean-Geneva intersection; and a discussion about the future of the community process for the BR Project.

Business is Blossoming on the Boulevard

With the arrival of Yellow Tier guidelines for San Francisco, businesses on Monterey Blvd are getting close to pre-Covid operations. If you’re feeling more confident these days, consider patronizing our local restaurants, salons, barbershops, cafés, or other businesses.

All but one of the restaurants listed before are open for indoor dining now, though at reduced capacity. Our many local personal service businesses can now operate at full capacity, such as salons, barbers, and spas. There are no restrictions in retail stores except the requirement for masks.

Detroit Steps Project Receives New Grant

DETROIT STEPS PROJECT A 2021 RECIPIENT OF COMMUNITY CHALLENGE GRANT

Funding for the Next Phase of the Project is Awarded!

The Detroit Steps Project (DSP), was announced as one of 28 recipients of the Community Challenge Grant Program (CCG), a division of the City Administrator’s office. DSP was allocated $110,185 in funding. This is the largest grant received by the Detroit Steps Project to date.

The DSP began efforts on this beautification project in November 2018. It was awarded District 7 Participatory Grant funds in 2019 to replace a chain link fence and install a water meter. Using these funds,the DSP will commence on additional safety and beautification efforts for this multi-phase project

  • Add pedestrian safety lighting to Upper and Lower Detroit Steps walkway
  • Terrace and landscape the upper steps, implementing winning CCSF student’s design
  • Install a decorative archway at the Lower Steps entrance off Monterey Boulevard

May 3: SNA Quarterly Meeting

You are invited to Sunnyside Neighborhood Association’s May Quarterly Meeting.

On the agenda: District 7 Supervisor Myrna Melgar is our guest for the meeting; we’ll hear news from around the district and the supervisor will address your questions and concerns. This meeting will also have an open discussion period for your neighborhood concerns. The Detroit Steps Project will give an update, including news on their recent grant.
