Slow Streets on Hearst moves ahead, slowly

The first phase of public outreach regarding the proposal to include Hearst Avenue (in the Outer Mission neighborhood of Sunnyside) in the SFMTA Slow Streets program has now closed. The response was largely positive. Read full results of the outreach process here.

The schedule for implementation is:

Internal review with city partner agencies	December 2020 – January 2021
SFMTA Board of Directors approval	February 16, 2021
Additional community outreach	Late February 2021
Implementation of Phase 4	Beginning March 2021

Free Covid Testing

Free covd-19 testing is available every Monday (10 AM to 6 PM) at the Crocker Amazon Playground Parking Lot (Moscow Street between Italy and France; additional parking on Geneva).

No preregistration or ID required. For all ages. Program sponsored by the San Francisco Dept of Public Health and other organizations.

ALSO: Additional pop-up testing site on Saturday, October 24th (10 AM to 6 PM) at the Valente Parking, 4840 Mission Street (walk through to rear).

SF Dept of Public Health recommendation on Masks

San Francisco”s Department of Emergency Management issued a recommendation last week that all Bay Area residents cover their mouths with cloth when leaving home for essential trips such as grocery or medical needs. This guidance matches what State officials have also recommended.

face-coverings Face coverings can be scarves, cloth masks, etc. Medical-grade masks are not recommended. Read official press release below. If you don’t have such an item already, you can search online to find instructions for sewn and no-sew cloth masks–there are many creative ideas out there, such as these made from a t-shirt.

Stressed? Anxious? Some guidance from CA Surgeon General

The California Surgeon General has put forward some guidance for helping people regulate their stress and anxiety in this time of Covid-19. Being stuck at home, isolated work, friends, and family, is stressful, and not knowing when it all will end, adds to the anxiety.

But there are simple things everyone can to do to regulate stress and care for ourselves. Maintaining social and family relationships; getting good nutrition, exercise, and sleep; having a regular mindfulness practice; and finding mental health care if needed, are all things that will help regulate stress and anxiety.
