FUF Tree Planting in Sunnyside – Deadline to Sign Up is Today!

How many trees can we plant in Sunnyside!  Let’s challenge ourselves!

FUF has chosen Sunnyside for their next tree planting in August.  Sign up is necessary by mid-July.

Friends of the Urban Forest (FUF) helps individuals and neighborhood groups plant and care for street trees and sidewalk gardens in San Francisco.

Homeowners and renters are eligible for trees.  You can even sponsor a tree in the neighborhood.  We need as many participants as possible to have this planting happen.

SNA Greening of Monterey Blvd with Norman Yee – Saturday, July 13 at 9 a.m.

Supervisor Norman Yee has made a special offer of help the SNA Greening crew. He asked if he and his interns could work with all of us on weeding Monterey Blvd, on Saturday July 13. He wants his interns to see how a successful city+neighborhood project can work. (Pause, high fives all round!)
DPW will help with lane closures, extra tools, & clean-up.
Can you help?  We could get most of the medians done!!!
The plan:
Meet at Ridgewood/Monterey 9am. Sat 7/13. Bring your gloves, a bucket or sturdy shopping bag, weeding tool, & safety vest, if you have these. We will provide them too, and the usual coffee, cookies & water. We finish at 12 noon.
We need as many people to help as possible, if only for an hour or so. Come, enjoy improving the Boulevard!

Temescal Quartet Concert on July 27 at Sunnyside Conservatory

The Friends of Sunnyside Conservatory is delighted to announce a Temescal Quartet Concert on July 27, in the Conservatory at 236 Monterey Boulevard.

 

The doors will open at 2:30 PM, and the music will begin at 3:00 PM. We will hear Beethoven’s Opus 18 # 6 and Ravel’s Quartet. Another composer may be included.

 
As usual, light refreshments will be served, and we are requesting a $20 donation.
 
Later in the summer, we hope to offer a Mask Making event, and possibly a workshop with succulents. As you may know, these sorts of events are supported  by the concerts we present. The concerts are generously donated by musical groups such as the Temescal Quartet, and for which we thank them profusely.
 
The Friends of Sunnyside Conservatory has been reorganized in the fashion of a non-profit, which we are, although we still have our financial fiduciary. Should you wish to join the FSC, the annual dues are $5, renewable in January.
