Friends of the Urban Forest (FUF) Will be in the Neighborhood

Friends of the Urban Forest will be planting new street trees in Sunnyside Neighborhood, with a volunteer event on May 31st, 2025. (More info to come soon) The goal is to create stewardship and build community and they need your help!

We can make a positive impact by bringing the community together to plant more trees!

They want to collaborate with us to:

1) Identify where trees are needed and wanted most

 2) Recruit neighbors to join us for a fun and festive volunteer planting day!

Please share their Street Tree Interest Form if you know someone or a location that could use a new tree. Also, please feel free to spread the word to any neighbors or groups interested in volunteering! You can direct them to the  Volunteer Registration Link

By sharing this information, you’ll be helping to expand our urban tree canopy and engage more residents in our reforestation efforts.

Lastly, if you’re interested in collaborating with Friends of the Urban Forest on other opportunities, please fill out our Partnership Interest Form.

Let’s work together to create a greener, more vibrant San Francisco!

Before the tech boom in San Francisco, care of street trees was foisted upon property owners to make up for budget deficits. In July, The City will take that responsibility back. (Jessica Christian/S.F. Examiner)

San Francisco’s ailing tree canopy is expected to get the love and care it needs after voters overwhelming approved a measure in November requiring The City to care for all street trees.

District 7 Newsletter — Fall 2016

Yee-June2016Dear community members,

I wish everyone a happy fall and election season! This is a very important presidential election year and I encourage everyone to vote by or on Election Day, November 8. Here is more information from the SF Dept of Elections on voter registration deadlines, dates and in-person and by-mail voting. Here are the government links to all 25 local ballot measures and 17 state ballot measures.

In particular I’d like to highlight three local measures on the November ballot:

  • Prop E–Street Trees: City to take back responsibility for street tree maintenance
  • Prop I–Dignity Fund: creating dedicated funding for seniors and adults with disabilities
  • Prop L–SFMTA split appointments: establishing more balance and diversity on the SFMTA Board

Included below are brief updates from my office about legislation going through the Board of Supervisors’ legislative process:

As usual included are updates on construction projects and community announcements.

Remember to vote by November 8, Election Day!

Best,

Norman

Learn about Prop E: Tree-Care Ballot Measure

At the last SNA quarterly meeting in August, a representative from Friends of the Urban Forest came to speak on the proposed measure to care for the City’s trees. Many present were surprised to learn that the measure on the ballot this November, Proposition E, does not mean a new property tax, but will be covered by the City’s general fund. More information below.
