The Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC) this week unveiled two new online tools to make it easier for Bay Area residents to weigh in on the policies and strategies shaping Plan Bay Area 2040, the long-range regional transportation and housing roadmap.

The Build a Better Bay Area website is an interactive quiz that introduces residents to three alternative scenarios—Main Streets, Connected Neighborhoods, and Big Cities—being considered by MTC and the Association of Bay Area Governments (ABAG) and helps residents see which alternative scenario (or scenarios) for the future of the Bay Area align most closely with their own personal priorities. Quiz questions mirror the tough decisions facing the Bay Area as the region adapts to the challenges of future population growth.

The Plan Bay Area Open Forum offers residents information about the three scenarios and asks them to provide input by answering four quick questions. Comments and responses are published and publicly viewable on the forum, with the hope of sparking a conversation online.

District 7 Newsletter – Spring 2016

District 7 Newsletter – Spring 2016

From Supervisor Norman Yee

<yeestaff@sfgov.org>

Dear community members,

As we enter summer I am pleased to share with you spring updates.

If you haven’t heard yet, Participatory Budget results are in! I’m proud to announce that this year’s participatory budgeting received record votes. Thank you, everyone, for all of your enthusiasm and participation in our 3rd year.

Regarding public safety, I have been very concerned with the crime increase in our neighborhoods and across the City, so I have been working closely with the Police Department, including our neighborhood precinct Captains, and the crime prevention nonprofit, SFSAFE to seek both short- and long-term solutions. I will continue to work closely with the new Acting Chief Chaplain to ensure adequate resources are dedicated to the West Side.

Parking and Transportation: two ways to participate in current issues

An important message about how you can participate in current issues at the Planning Dept, from Jeremy Shaw:

Please be advised of the following pertinent transportation announcements:

  1. The SF County Transportation Authority and Mayor’s Office of Transportation is conducting a transportation survey for parents of kindergarten through 5th graders attending school in San Francisco.  https://usfca.co1.qualtrics.com/jfe1/form/SV_a5Jr7WCyPspvuFT
  2. The SFMTA is undertaking a comprehensive, data-driven evaluation of the Residential Parking Permit, or RPP, program. If you’re interested, the closest meeting to you will be held tomorrow, May 25th. If you cannot make it tomorrow, there are three other meetings elsewhere on the topic. https://www.sfmta.com/calendar/meetings/rpp-community-workshopinglesideoceanview
