Update on Balboa Park Pool

Hoodline published this update on the state of the still-unfinished Balboa Park Pool:

“Nearly a year after planned reopening, Balboa Park Pool remains shuttered”

“We determined that it was better to invest in a new, higher-performing and fully warrantied window system,”  Tamara Aparton [of SF Rec & Parks] explained, noting that the delays experienced due to the window replacement were concurrent to the utility delays. We are making good progress on other aspects of the work on the interior and exterior,” she added. According to updates posted on the pool’s website, a mural by Jason Jägel was completed inside the building in June.

From the SF Office of the Assessor-Recorder. This popular and well-received forum regularly provides free help in financial planning to SF families, this time with a special workshop on safeguarding against elder financial abuse. 

In September, Assessor Carmen Chu is bringing back by popular demand her Office’s community event to help San Francisco families build their financial futures, the Family Wealth Workshop. [More information below image.]

Start your shopping day at our table at 415 Edna Street (Hearst) and get the official treasure map to guide you to all of the participating households in our neighborhood. Have some coffee and snacks–and meet the SNA officers. Map will also be available online just before the opening.

What: A long list of treasures for sale, including: Home furnishings and aero beds, fine and decorative art, toys and legos, musical instruments, skateboards and sports equipment, collectibles and ceramics, tools and auto supplies, mens and womens clothing, baby carriers and strollers, small appliances and vintage kitchenware, garden plants and supplies, vinyl records and books, bicycles and baked goods,  a lemonade stand and MORE!

This community event aims to engage nearby residents in the planning process for the public park that will be the centerpiece of the Balboa Reservoir housing project.

This Saturday Sept 15th — 12 noon to 4 pm. On Lower reservoir area. A festival of fun, food, kids’ activities, sports, and opportunities to help plan the park.

When: Saturday Sept 22, 2018, 9 AM to 2 PM.

A special guide map showing all participating locations with their featured items goes live online just before the event.

Or start your shopping by picking up a paper map in front of St Finn Barr Church, and have some coffee and home baked goodies with neighbors and SNA officers.
