Proposed Amendments to Bylaws Posted for Review by SNA Members

Amendments proposed to the bylaws of the Sunnyside Neighborhood Association (SNA) have been posted to SNA’s website for review by its members. Bylaws are the rules that govern the operations of SNA, and the proposed amendments will be reviewed and voted on during SNA’s next quarterly meeting in August.

As stated in the bylaws, members must be given at least 30 days to submit proposed amendments in writing prior to the next membership meeting. At least 75% of active members in attendance must approve the proposed changes for them to be adopted. The next meeting is scheduled for Monday, August 11, at 6:30 PM.

The original bylaws were adopted on September 24, 1974, when SNA was established. They were amended once in May 2016. The key changes being proposed to the bylaws, as highlighted in the document posted for review:

  • Raises association dues from $20 to $30 per household and from $25 to $100 for business members
  • Requires at least 60% of board members to approve changes to dues
  • Adds a second Member-at-large position to the board, for a total of six positions
  • Removes the post office box as SNA’s official address
  • Changes procedures for approving and paying SNA expenses
  • Clarifies how vacant board positions will be filled

Hi neighbors,

As a reminder, the Sunnyside Neighborhood Association Board is having our casual coffee meetup at the local coffee joint, the Railroad Expresso, this Saturday 6/28/2024, from 9 to 10am. Gotta gripe? Maybe an interesting project you’d like to do with the SNA? Swing by for some java and meet your board and your neighbors and share your thoughts! Let’s make our community even sunnier together!

Your SNA Board

LAST WEEKEND TO VOTE – for Dist. 7 Participatory Budget Projects!! (voting ends on Sunday, 6/22)

Celebrate that Sunnyside (and all of D7) is the ONLY district in San Francisco that provides its residents with the opportunity to vote for the projects that we want funded in our neighborhood… This year, there are 10 projects, and enough funding for 8 of them. So your vote matters!

VOTE HEREhttps://sites.google.com/view/d7participatorybudgeting/home

Your Sunnyside Neighborhood Association encourages you, and everyone 16 yrs and older residing in/around Sunnyside to vote for the projects you care the most about – so spread the word, share the news, and get your household votes in! Of course, we are partial to the projects in Sunnyside, but there are fine options in other neighborhoods as well… The 8 projects that get the most votes will be funded (up to $50,000 each).
