Don’t Toss It! Recology Services Available to Residents

Recycling is more important than ever before to individuals and to cities such as San Francisco. The San Francisco Board of Supervisors has mandated a goal of 75 percent waste diversion for all of San Francisco by the year 2010 and zero waste by 2020.

Recology offers an array of services, no excuse to put items on the sidewalk and create an eyesore.

Recology has services where they will pick up large bulky items at your house free of charge. They also collect electronics, batteries, paint and much more. See the program details at http://www.recyclemyjunk.com/.

2013 Monterey Blvd. weeding in full swing, join us! Sunday 1/6 at 9 a.m.

Sunday Jan 6th 9am – 11am for some weeding and trash pick up. We’ll start at the top of Circular, at the Monterey/freeway intersection. Look for us on Circular just below the intersection, or on the first Monterey median. We look forward to seeing you!
We also have succulents to plant if we find good spots.
There’s much weeding & cleaning up to be done on both Monterey and Circular during the winter/spring months. We hope you – our Sunnyside neighbors – can help keep these two major areas attractive by joining us on some Sunday mornings.

Check ‘n Go borrowers eligible for $4.3 million in refunds in three-month statewide drive

SF city attorney’s office has learned through the court process that many borrowers are medium-income families and that installment loans are popular with your constituency.  Check ‘n Go’s customer base is in the Central Valley, Greater Los Angeles, Sacramento, San Jose and San Francisco areas.  And since these refunds are for borrowers who took out loans online, they truly are all over California–even in cities without brick and mortar stores.

These refunds could be up to $4,600 each and at this time of year that money could really be used by California families.

A web site dedicated to this settlement that has all the details and background:www.CALoanRefund.org
Over the next weeks they will also be adding tools to help you spread the word under the “How to Help” tab on the website.  Also, if you know of other organizations I should reach out to please let me know, or simply forward on this email.  They need all the community partners possible.
