How many trees can we plant in Sunnyside!  Let’s challenge ourselves!

FUF has chosen Sunnyside for their next tree planting in August.  Sign up is necessary by mid-July.

Friends of the Urban Forest (FUF) helps individuals and neighborhood groups plant and care for street trees and sidewalk gardens in San Francisco.

Homeowners and renters are eligible for trees.  You can even sponsor a tree in the neighborhood.  We need as many participants as possible to have this planting happen.

Let’s keep greening Sunnyside, for information on the FUF program and to apply, visit their website http://www.fuf.net

Now’s the time to sign the forms and choose the tree species you want. Contact Caitlin at (415) 268-0772 or caitlin@fuf.net. It’s important to be signed up by mid-July.

– Urban greening being scheduled for Fall

The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago, or today!

Friends of the Urban Forest (FUF) helps individuals and neighborhood groups plant and care for street trees and sidewalk gardens in San Francisco. This “green infrastructure” improves the city by beautifying neighborhoods, cleaning the air, raising property values and reducing polluted stormwater runoff. Since 1981, FUF has planted more than 47,000 trees, totaling 43% of San Francisco’s street tree canopy.

Benefits of trees in our neighborhood:

  • Trees increase property value
  • Trees produce oxygen, clean the air and reduce global warming
  • Trees and sidewalk gardens reduce flooding and water pollution
  • Trees calm traffic
  • Trees increase revenues in shopping districts
  • Promotes exercise
  • Reduces crime

Homeowners and renters are eligible for trees.  You can even sponsor a tree in the neighborhood.  We need as many participants as possible to have this planting happen.
