NERT Training in Glen Park Sept 25 – Oct 30

SFFD Neighborhood Emergency Response Team (NERT)

NERT is a community based training program dedicated to a neighbor-helping-neighbor approach.  It is beneficial for individuals, neighborhood groups and community-based organizations in San Francisco.  Through this program, individuals will learn the basics of personal preparedness and prevention.  The training also includes hands-on disaster skills that will help individuals respond to a personal emergency as well as act as members of a neighborhood response team.

A typical NERT volunteer is not one type. The NERT volunteer is anyone who is active and involved in the community–or wants to be.  San Francisco is made up of many neighborhoods. We are training to be one ready community when it counts. The Emergency Response is key but the Neighborhood Team comes first.

Training is free and open to all SF residents.  To sign up, visit https://www.eventbrite.com/event/8096503861

Congresswoman Jackie Speier town hall in West Portal Oct. 7

Ever wish you could ask someone in Congress what they’re doing about health care, national security or any big issue of the day? Now you can.

Congresswoman Jackie Speier will take questions on Monday, October 7 at 6:30p at the West Portal Playground Clubhouse (131 Lenox, above the Muni station). The town hall is free. All are welcome.

The sponsor is the Alice B. Toklas LGBT Democratic Club, which proudly recognizes and celebrates gay residents on San Francisco’s Westside. Everyone is welcome to attend — gay or straight and any political party. Congresswoman Speier represents everyone living in Southwestern San Francisco and this is your opportunity to meet her and ask questions.

This town hall is co-hosted by:
