As part of the development of the Balboa Reservoir/City College of SF area, SF Planning released the Transportation Demand Management (TDM) plan. This document analyzes many aspects of transportation activity around the CCSF campus, and includes the portion of Sunnyside south of Monterey Blvd. [Link below.]

What’s your speed?

This stark infographic demonstrates how important car speed is. The speed limit on Sunnyside’s busiest street, Monterey Blvd, was lowered to 25 MPH a few years ago, yet cars are often observed to be going much faster. The recent fatality at Valdez Ave and the serious injury collision near Foerster St that left a cyclist in a coma suggest actual speeds are substantially higher.

Sunnyside NERT Classes — now open for registration on Eventbrite

San Francisco’s NERT (Neighborhood Emergency Response Team) program is a great program which teaches neighbors like you to help yourself and others in the event of a major earthquake or catastrophe. You will learn light search and rescue, how to shut off utilities, do triage, and very basic first aid. It’s a fun class, and a great way to meet your neighbors and help your fellow San Franciscans in a disaster.

Sunnyside’s upcoming NERT classes are now scheduled. SNA president and firefighter Stephen Martinpinto will be leading the course. Details and links to sign up:

SFMTA: Update on Traffic and Transit around Balboa Park Station re ongoing improvements

SFMTA UPDATE:  Balboa Park Station Improvement Project

Now until Further Notice: The Balboa Park Station Area and Plaza Improvements project broke ground on February 29 to implement safety, accessibility and transit improvements around the Balboa Park Station. Weather permitting, construction work for the project is anticipated to last through December 2016.

Since Friday, November 11, eastbound Ocean Avenue between Geneva and San Jose avenues is closed and is scheduled to open on Saturday, December 24.
