Sunnyside All Aboard! – Monthly Coffee date with The SNA

Hi neighbors,

As a reminder, the Sunnyside Neighborhood Association Board is having our casual coffee meetup at the local coffee joint, the Railroad Expresso, this Saturday 5/24/2024, from 9 to 10am. Gotta gripe? Maybe an interesting project you’d like to do with the SNA? Swing by for some java and meet your board and your neighbors and share your thoughts! Let’s make our community even sunnier together!

Your SNA Board

Mural Completed at Sunnyside Elementary School

Third graders from Sunnyside Elementary School have completed a mural on the school’s north facade. The first mural at the school spans the length of the north side of the building on Hearst Avenue near Foerster Street. The mural was dedicated during the school’s Open House event that took place the week of May 12.

The mural was designed and painted by the school’s 3rd-grade students under the direction of a local artist in residence. After its completion, a protective coating was applied to shield the mural from damage from the sun, graffiti, weather, and other potential damage. Sandie Spoering, Sunnyside Elementary’s Principal, said they are engaging with the school district to finalize plans for the grass area in front of the mural.
