Meet your neighbors in person — hear about issues that impact life in Sunnyside — ask questions about things you care about — become a member of your neighborhood association — come to the quarterly meeting of the Sunnyside Neighborhood Association on Monday Feb 6th.

Time and place: Monday Feb 6th, 7-8:30pm, at St Finn Barr Auditorium (415 Edna Street).

Topics and speakers on the agenda are: Pedestrian Safety improvements for Sunnyside; Capt McFadden from Ingleside Police Station; update on the important Balboa Reservoir Project housing development; NERT (Neighborhood Emergency Response Team); a representative from Bay Area Bike Share, which is coming to Sunnyside; and the airplane noise issue.

We welcome all residents of Sunnyside to attend, and membership is open to all residents.

Balboa Reservoir Project CAC Meeting, Feb 13th

The Balboa Reservoir Project is a very large proposed development that will impact life for residents in Sunnyside (more here). Housing and park space are planned for the now undeveloped land to the west of City College. The Community Advisory Committee (BRCAC) is an unprecedented new aspect of development in San Francisco–and a vital part of deciding what that project will look like going forward. You can be a part of that process–BRCAC meetings are open to all community members.

The next meeting of the Community Advisory Committee is Monday, February 13, 2016. More about the meeting here. It will be held at City College of San Francisco, Multi-Use Building, Room 140, 55 Phelan Avenue, San Francisco, CA 94112. 6:15pm. Tim Chan, Manager of Planning for Bart, will be discussing the BART passenger drop off and pick up facility as it relates to the Upper Yard Development Project, including various options and impacts, and the analysis, findings and recommendations of a recent study.

What’s your speed?

This stark infographic demonstrates how important car speed is. The speed limit on Sunnyside’s busiest street, Monterey Blvd, was lowered to 25 MPH a few years ago, yet cars are often observed to be going much faster. The recent fatality at Valdez Ave and the serious injury collision near Foerster St that left a cyclist in a coma suggest actual speeds are substantially higher.
