Sunnyside Playground to Reopen on Oct 14

In just two weeks Sunnyside’s popular local play area will reopen, along with all of the city’s playgrounds. The guidelines include masks for all people over age two, 30-minute time limit, and physical distancing for people of different households. Read the full guidelines here. Read more at SF Examiner:

Party time? Rent the Sunnyside Clubhouse

The Sunnyside Clubhouse can now be rented for events through the San Francisco Recreation and Parks Department.

Available rental hours are Saturdays from 2-6pm and Sundays from 9am-1pm and 2-6pm. The cost is $82/hour. The rental includes the Clubhouse, with access to its kitchen, 6 tables and 20 adult-sized chairs. The adjacent basketball court is not included in the rental and remains accessible for community use during events.

Summer fun: Sunnyside + Camp Mather

A new and unique opportunity for Sunnyside kids: As a result of SNA’s work with Rec&Parks, ten spots are being pre-reserved just for children ages 11-14 from the Sunnyside neighborhood at a new, 2 week Eco-Camp at Sunnyside Playground (week 1, 7/29 – 8/2) and Camp Mather (week 2, 8/5 – 8/9).

New ‘Tots Choice’ Early Childhood Recreation Class at Sunnyside Clubhouse

Rec and Parks is offering a new Tot Class (ages 3-5) on Saturday mornings at Sunnyside Clubhouse (290 Melrose Ave) from 10-11:30am. It is 9 sessions for $79, and it starts this Saturday January 12.

The Sunnyside Clubhouse was “reactivated” for neighborhood programming last fall and we are very excited to have new classes such as this one now available. If you are interested, please consider enrolling to help ensure the classes continue in the future.

Tennis lessons anyone? Now offered at Sunnyside Playground courts

Sunnyside Playground and Clubhouse now have new community programming, including an afterschool program and tennis lessons for teens that are fully subscribed.

sf-rec-park-logoBut the tennis lessons for adults remain open — The next scheduled session runs from November 6 to December 18, with the weekly class held on from Tuesdays, 12 noon to 1 PM. The total cost is $140. The instructor is Lou Maunupau.

Is this scheduled time inconvenient for you? SF Recreation and Parks has let Sunnyside Neighborhood Association know that if members of the community wish to see a different time/day for the adult lessons, they would consider rescheduling.
