Nov 13: Balboa Reservoir Project community meeting

Now that the selection of the developer for the Balboa Reservoir site has been made, the prospect of the new housing project directly to the south is becoming more real for residents in Sunnyside. Community involvement through the Balboa Reservoir Community Advisory Committee (BRCAC) will be an ongoing process for at least the next 12 months, as the developer is called to develop plans that mitigate the impacts–parking, traffic and public amenities–on Sunnyside and other adjacent neighborhoods.

All residents are welcome at the meetings of the BRCAC. Next meeting is Monday Nov 13, 6:15-8pm, Multi-Use Building, Room 140, 55 Phelan Avenue, San Francisco CA.  Continue reading “Nov 13: Balboa Reservoir Project community meeting”

CCSF board disagrees over future of Balboa Reservoir development

By Laura Waxmann on October 30, 2017 1:00 am

City College of San Francisco trustees last week declined to take a stance against a proposed housing project on city-owned land adjacent to campus.

A resolution introduced by CCSF Trustee John Rizzo and Board of Trustees Vice President Brigitte Davila urging the college to claim ownership of the 17-acre Balboa Reservoir was tabled Thursday after failing to win sufficient support by the trustees. A housing development is planned for the site, which is owned by the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission.

The resolution called on the college to enter negotiations with the SFPUC on transferring its ownership of the lot, which provides over 1,000 parking spots.   Continue reading “SF Examiner: ‘CCSF board disagrees over future of Balboa Reservoir development’”

Adopt-a-Drain season coming

Have you adopted your local storm drain yet? Over 40 of Sunnyside’s storm drains have been adopted by local residents through an SF Water program, many of them given pet names like Cowboy, Oscar, and Drainy McDrainerson (of course). See a map of all the adoptees and find out how you can participate here: https://adoptadrain.sfwater.org/ Click register to start.

For all those who have already adopted, now is the time to give your pet drain a sweep, before rain comes.   Continue reading “Adopt-a-Drain season coming”

Balboa Reservoir: upcoming meetings on Oct 24 and Nov 13

Regarding the Balboa Reservoir project — From SF Planning, Office of Economic and Workforce Development, and the SFPUC:

unnamed

Thank you for your ongoing interest and participation in the Balboa Reservoir project. We would like to make you aware of two upcoming meetings.

Next Balboa Reservoir CAC Meeting is Monday November 13

The next Balboa Reservoir CAC meeting will be held on Monday, November 13, at 6:00pm in the City College Multi-Use Building, Room 140. More information on the meeting’s agenda will be provided soon. More about the Balboa Reservoir CAC here.

SFPUC Commission Meeting on October 24

[UPDATE (Oct 24) The Balboa Reservoir item on this meetings agenda has been moved to the November 14 SFPUC meeting.]

As described at the last BRCAC [Balboa Reservoir Community Advisory Committee] meeting, the SFPUC Commission will vote to formalize the selection of the AvalonBay/BRIDGE Housing development team. This item will be heard at the next SFPUC Commission hearing on Tuesday, October 24. That meeting’s agenda has just been posted here (see Item 12). http://sfwater.org/modules/showdocument.aspx?documentid=11366

The Commission will not be considering the development team’s specific proposal; rather, they will decide whether the SFPUC should enter into negotiations with the development team (an “Exclusive Negotiating Agreement”). This means deciding whether the City can move forward with the AvalonBay/BRIDGE Housing team and provide them with feedback, refine their proposal, initiate environmental review, and ultimately seek project approvals (which will require going back to the SFPUC Commission, as well as the Planning Commission and Board of Supervisors).

The SFPUC Commission Hearing will be held Tuesday, October 24, 1:30 PM at City Hall, Room 400
