KA-boom! What to do about illegal fireworks this Fourth of July

From Ingleside Police Station:

Operation Kaboom 2019 Phase 1 (June 4th – July 3rd)

Frustrated by the relentless scourge of illegal July 4th Fireworks every year?

If so, Ingleside Station needs your help. Please:

1) Contact us about problem locations where illegal fireworks have been ignited in the past, and

2) If you see something; say something. We need specific locations with either the addresses or intersections where the big, house shaking, fire hazard creating, injury-causing fireworks were detonated in years past.

During the month leading up to the 4th, we will be compiling a list of these locations in anticipation of 4th of July illegal fireworks activity so that we can stop the big, dangerous gatherings from even starting.

June 11: Earthquake Safety Fair

PROPERTY OWNERS INVITED TO DBI’S ANNUAL EARTHQUAKE SAFETY FAIR
“GET READY FOR THE BIG ONE!”
JUNE 11, 2019 AT 10AM – 4PM

WHAT: San Francisco residents, property and business owners are invited to the Department of Building Inspection’s (DBI) Annual Earthquake Safety Fair on Tuesday, June 11, 2019. This free public event will take place from 10am to 4pm at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium, 99 Grove Street, just across from City Hall and easy walking distance from the Civic Center MUNI and BART lines.

Last year, DBI hosted over 80 exhibitors — ranging from contractors, design professionals, financial institutions, government agencies and community partners; provided five informative workshops about building, earthquake and accessible business storefronts; hands-on emergency trainings and brought over 600 attendees to learn and benefit from the all-day building safety event. One Stop Sign Proposed for Judson at Frida Kahlo

An item on the SFMTA board of directors meeting agenda for March 19: “ESTABLISH – STOP SIGN – Judson Avenue, eastbound, at Frida Kahlo Way”. Read the full agenda here.

This dangerous intersection was recently brought to the attention of the SFMTA by one Sunnyside resident, through SNA, and MTA responded promptly that they would address the situation.

This one stop sign will be placed where the 500 Block of Judson meets Frida Kahlo. This however does not address the safety issue at the main intersection, where there are no stop signs or crosswalks to allow pedestrians to safely cross fast automobile traffic on either Frida Kahlo Way or Judson Ave.  City College is on one side and Archbishop Riordan High School on the other.
