The cleanup day for the Detroit Steps on Saturday June 8th was a great success — and Board of Supervisors President Norman Yee visited to show his support. Recently the Detroit Steps Projectreceived a District 7 Participatory Budgeting grant. More about the project here. The empty lot adjacent to the Joost-Baden Mini-Park at 149 Mangels Ave. was bought recently and plans submitted by a developer to the Planning Dept to build a structure on the property. Below, photos of park and site.

Today, Recreation and Parks Dept worker Christopher Campbell and RPD intern Nick were awaiting the arrival of a large group of SF Greenbelt Alliance volunteers, to help clean up the dead brush. Another worker was removing dead eucalyptus branches.
This community event aims to engage nearby residents in the planning process for the public park that will be the centerpiece of the Balboa Reservoir housing project.
This Saturday Sept 15th — 12 noon to 4 pm. On Lower reservoir area. A festival of fun, food, kids’ activities, sports, and opportunities to help plan the park.
