Participatory Budgeting: Time to vote for Sunnyside

Your vote counts — help bring City funds our way! The voting is now open for the slate of projects chosen for Participatory Budgeting.  There are many projects and improvements to chose from — read through the whole list carefully.

Visit this page and cast your vote for the projects you think most worthy of being implemented in District 7: https://sfpbd.sfgov.org/d7/vote/  Scroll down to where it says “VOTE.”   Voting is open until Mar 31, 2017.

Full details on the package in this post, below image. The project that most directly affects Sunnyside is in the first section “Pedestrian Safety”. (Also look for a Parklet project for Monterey Blvd.)

Pedestrian Safety Improvements for Sunnyside Streets – Cost: $120,000
These proposed pedestrian safety improvements, including strategic stop signs, marked crosswalks, and other measures to promote visibility, directly address specific danger spots in Sunnyside and will substantially increase the pedestrian safety. These improvements were assembled with the input of local residents and the Sunnyside Neighborhood Association.

Participatory Budgeting Voting opens this Friday – a chance to have your say

On Friday March 17, 2017, the voting opens for this year’s slate of Participatory Budgeting options. There will be many projects on the slate for District 7.

Sunnyside Neighborhood Association has been working behind the scenes to make sure that there is one budget item that would implement several pedestrian-safety improvements in our neighborhood:

Pedestrian Safety Improvements for Sunnyside Streets – Cost: $120,000
These proposed pedestrian safety improvements, including strategic stop signs, marked crosswalks, and other measures to promote visibility, directly address specific danger spots in Sunnyside and will substantially increase the pedestrian safety. These improvements were assembled with the input of local residents and the Sunnyside Neighborhood Association.

Also on the ballot are local projects that can improve our quality of life. We need your votes to ensure Sunnyside receives funding for those improvements and projects.

Voting is open until March 31, 2017.

Balboa Reservoir Project CAC Meeting, Feb 13th

The Balboa Reservoir Project is a very large proposed development that will impact life for residents in Sunnyside (more here). Housing and park space are planned for the now undeveloped land to the west of City College. The Community Advisory Committee (BRCAC) is an unprecedented new aspect of development in San Francisco–and a vital part of deciding what that project will look like going forward. You can be a part of that process–BRCAC meetings are open to all community members.

The next meeting of the Community Advisory Committee is Monday, February 13, 2016. More about the meeting here. It will be held at City College of San Francisco, Multi-Use Building, Room 140, 55 Phelan Avenue, San Francisco, CA 94112. 6:15pm. District 7 Residents — I am excited to announce the launch of the 4th year of District 7 Participatory Budgeting!  This year YOU will have the opportunity to apply for and decide on how to allocate $550,000  ($300,000 for General Projects & $250,000 for Pedestrian Safety/Vision Zero)!

Please join me at the upcoming meeting to find out more about Participatory Budgeting,  how to apply and get feedback from departments on your ideas and proposals.
