Balboa Reservoir Project CAC Meeting, Nov 14th

The Balboa Reservoir Project is a very large proposed development that will impact life for residents in Sunnyside (more here). Housing and park space are planned for the now undeveloped land to the west of City College. The Community Advisory Committee (BRCAC) is an unprecedented new aspect of development in San Francisco–and a vital part of deciding what that project will look like going forward. You can be a part of that process–BRCAC meetings are open to all community members.

The next meeting of the Community Advisory Committee is Monday, November 14th, 2016. More about the meeting here. It will be held at the Riordan High School Theater, 175 Phelan Ave, 6:15pm. To contact Committee Chair Lisa Spinali, email  BalResCACChair@gmail.com.

The launch of the Small Business Acceleration Program was announced by Mayor Lee along with Supervisor Katy Tang, the Office of Economic and Workforce Development, and the Office of Small Business. Community Workshop on Proposed Urban Design Guidelines

SF Planning’s new Urban Design Guidelines will give direction to designers, builders, and developers, and shape the future of San Francisco in this time of rapid change. The areas in and around Sunnyside that will be impacted by the guidelines are marked in orange on this portion of the map included in a recent SF Planning presentation (PDF 47MB).

SF Planning is holding a public workshop about changes to the guidelines, which provide a framework for the review process for design professionals, such as developers and architects, as well as the general public. They are intended to guide all building development in all districts and establish a citywide set of expectations, goals, values, and qualities by which projects are evaluated during the review process.design review. SNA Quarterly Meeting

Tonight Sunnyside Neighborhood Association holds its quarterly general meeting. All Sunnyside residents are welcome. 7-8:30 pm in the St Finn Barr Auditorium (415 Edna Street).

We will be discussing the recent injury collisions on Monterey Blvd (more here and here), and how we can make positive changes for increased safety on our main street. More on this issue from Friends of Monterey Blvd.

The agenda also includes a representative from SFPUC about the sewer modernization program, a representative from the ballot initiative ‘Housing Not Tents,’ and a representative from SF Housing Action Coalition speaking about the Affordable Housing Bonus Program. Some of these are contentious issues, and we hope you will bring your questions.

We will be hearing updates from the Balboa Reservoir Project Community Advisory Committee and our new liaison to City College as it finalizes the Facilities Master Plan.

We will also hold a raffle — prizes courtesy local merchants and more… Light refreshments served.

Many new members have joined SNA over the previous months — but we have also had many new followers of this blog — people who are interested but who aren’t yet members.
