In appreciation: Lisa Spinali, founding Chair of the Balboa Reservoir Community Advisory Committee

Lisa _Spinali_BW Effective this month, Lisa Spinali has resigned as chair of the Balboa Reservoir Community Advisory Committee (BRCAC) in order to pursue other projects. Her public service for three years on this precedent-setting community forum is greatly appreciated by the officers of Sunnyside Neighborhood Association and many others in the community.

Lisa served as SNA President 2012-2016, and it was during her term that the need for effective local community input on the proposed housing development became clear.

Mayor Ed Lee began the process of developing housing on the seventeen-acre Balboa Reservoir land in late 2014, and a dysfunctional community meeting soon after illustrated the importance of a good community process. Lisa brought her long experience in enabling community involvement to bear on the matter, and it was through her initiative that the BRCAC was formed in 2015, a process facilitated and supported by Supervisor Norman Yee (District 7), and requiring the approval of Mayor Lee and the Board of Supervisors. The next meeting of the Balboa Reservoir Community Advisory Committee (BRCAC) is Monday July 9th, 6-8pm (Multi-Use Building, CCSF, 50 Phelan Ave). This meeting is open to all and includes time for public comment. All local residents are welcome. More about the project here.

The subject is “On- and Off-site Transportation“. Also on the agenda: the BRCAC will elect a new chair and vice-chair at this meeting.

Two community events are planned this Saturday, June 23, regarding the Balboa Reservoir housing project development.

Open Space Community Workshop: 10am – 1pm, At Ingleside Branch Library, 1298 Ocean Ave.

The developer team for the Balboa Reservoir housing project are holding a series of community engagement events. Previously the walk to the Balboa Park Station was addressed. On Next is a tour of affordable housing already built by BRIDGE Housing–so participants can see what it is like, in anticipation of what will be built at the Balboa Reservoir site.

The Balboa Reservoir development team invites you to take a free, guided tour of the BRIDGE Housing and Mission Housing portfolios! Get a first-hand view of the role BRIDGE Housing and Mission Housing Development Corporation play in building, preserving and managing the affordable housing stock of San Francisco.

Saturday June 9, 2018. 1:00-4:00 PM.
