SF Redistricting Plan Under Fire from One District 7 Neighborhood Association

From KQED Radio

SF Redistricting Plan Under Fire Some San Francisco residents are demanding changes from the task force drawing new boundaries for supervisors’ districts. Last night at a meeting in City Hall, residents of the Portola neighborhood said they want to be in a district that’s not so spread-out.  That would change all the districts, because each must have a roughly equal population.

Don’t Get Conned by Scams Operating in Sunnyside

A work crew is going around Sunnyside in orange vests, intentionally looking like City em-ployees and trying to con resi-dents. They put a depth gauge or camera down your sidewalk trap opening, show you footage of a bad-looking sewer (not yours), and then try to sell you a new system.

Sunnysiders, watch out for these guys and don’t be taken in by this con. At least one neighbor has confronted them and told them to leave as the trap is private prop-erty. They don’t like having their photos taken. Call 911 if you feel threatened.

Sunnyside District

In the late 1880s San Franciscan Behrend Joost signed a contract to provide dredging services for a canal-cutting venture in Panama. The attempt failed (a successful Panama Canal wouldn’t come until 1914), but Joost got out with a lot of money for his work before the enterprise collapsed.
