City College of San Francisco faces accreditation loss
The Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges’ ruling earlier this week deeply impacts the City College of San Francisco (CCSF) and its future. The judgment stated that CCSF has the burden to prove why it should retain its accreditation, but must also prepare for the possibility of closure.
In a letter to the interim chancellor of CCSF, the commission cited leadership issues and fiscal irresponsibility. CCSF must submit its response to the accrediting board by March 15, 2013.
CCSF has 90,000 students across nine campuses. The entire report can be read at http://www.ccsf.edu/Offices/Research_Planning/study.html
SNA Greening Group continues to beautify Sunnyside
The SNA Greening group held a planting and beautifying event on Saturday June 30th. Volunteers rolled up their sleeves and planted the 300 and 400 block medians of Monterey. Next time you drive down Monterey Blvd, check out how amazing the median looks. Your local Sunnyside volunteers maintain this area.
Special thanks to Keren and Bob Abra for coordinating the SNA Greening group and all their hard work in keeping Sunnyside green and alive.
If you are interested in volunteering, please email greensunnyside@gmail.com.
We did it! Laguna Hospital Selected for Orchard
Sunnyside, give yourself a pat on the back and a mental hug. Thanks to your efforts, and the efforts of the entire San Francisco Bay Area, Laguna Honda has been selected to receive an orchard. The contest was sponsored by Dryer’s Fruit Bars in partnership with Fruit Tree Planting Foundation. They developed Communities Take Root, a program to provide fresh fruit orchards in dozens of communities across the United States. Laguna Honda received 34,592 votes and was one of the five selected communities in the second round of voting.
Laguna Honda Hospital and Rehabilitation Center is the country’s most modern skilled nursing facility. A branch of the San Francisco Department of Public Health, we provide acute care, skilled nursing and rehabilitation services to a safety net population of 765 seniors and adults with disabilities.
Congratulations Laguna Honda on your well deserved orchard!
