More poisoned meatballs found

(05-06) 13:00 PDT SAN FRANCISCO  — Someone appears to be continuing a long and increasingly strange campaign to hurt or kill dogs in San Francisco with poisoned meatballs.

Around 9 a.m. Monday, dog trainer Shura Kelly and her friend were walking their dogs near 24th Avenue and Ortega Street in the Sunset District when they found a plate of meatballs of various shapes with pills lodged inside.

Along with the hunks of meat, there was a candle and about $1.50 in quarters on the plate.

“It’s bizarre,” Kelly said.

The case is the newest in a string of incidents in which dogs have been sickened or killed by tainted meat placed around the city. But no suspects have been identified.

“It’s terrifying. What is it going to take for this guy to be caught? Does a child need to get hurt?” Kelly said.

Neighborhood Sweep Off Challenge25 Apr

Sunnyside Neighborhood Association from Sunnyside

It is my honor today to make you aware of our upcoming Neighborhood Sweep Off Challenge. The Sweep Off Challenge is part of our overall Giant Sweep campaign to make for a more welcoming, sustainable and cleaner San Francisco. The Challenge will be open to all neighborhood groups and our primary focus will be the groups that we already know walk the talk and are active in the community.

The way the contest will work is beginning APRIL 1st and running through AUGUST 1st, 2014, neighborhood groups/teams will begin competing to see who can rack up the most volunteer hours. The grand prize for our winning neighborhood group/team will be a GIANTS TICKETS for the entire group/team in September as well as an invitation to our Fall Giant Sweep Awards Ceremony where they will be recognized.
