Pricey housing costs are not only pushing teachers out of public schools in San Francisco but also giving faculty a reason to leave City College of San Francisco, a new survey has found.

The survey, released before the Board of Trustees discuss plans to build employee housing Thursday, sheds light on the lesser-known housing woes of City College faculty and staff as city officials continue to spend resources on housing support for public school educators.     Continue reading “SF Examiner: CCSF faculty survey shows support for educator housing, Ocean Campus favored”

We got it! Pedestrian Safety for Sunnyside Streets

The votes are in from the recent round of District 7 Participatory Budgeting — and the Sunnyside pedestrian safety proposal got a fantastic number of notes — 892 — and came second in its category. As far as we know at this point, that secures the $120,000 needed to make those improvements happen. A big thank-you to all those who took the time to vote.

This is the package of improvements that SNA helped draft, working with Sunnyside Elementary School PTA, Friends of Monterey Boulevard, and other local residents. Congratulations are due all around! Details on what we asked for below.

One step closer: Detroit crosswalk beacon

As reported yesterday on Friends of Monterey Blvd Fb page, part of the infrastructure required for the pedestrian flashing beacon has been put in place on Monterey Boulevard at Detroit Street crosswalk — three poles for the lights and signal buttons (one on the north side not visible here).
