Balboa Reservoir Project: three ways to be involved

From SF Planning Dept about the Balboa Reservoir Project housing development.

unnamed

This June, community members will have three chances to comment on the three finalists in the Balboa Reservoir request for proposals (RFP) process. All three opportunities will provide the same information. You can provide feedback in whichever venue is most convenient for you. For more information see the community portal at http://sfwater.org/balboa/community.

  1. June 10th: Presentation of Proposals

On Saturday, June 10 at 10am, in the Archbishop Riordan High School Cafeteria (175 Phelan Ave), the three finalist development teams will present their proposals, followed by discussion and comments. The meeting will also have refreshments, interpretation in Spanish and Cantonese, closed captioning and children’s activities. Please arrive early so you have time to sign in and get the most out of these activities.

  1. June 15th: Viewing of Presentations at the CAC

On Thursday, June 15th at 6pm, the Balboa Reservoir Community Advisory Committee (BRCAC) will view the video of the June 10th presentations, host a discussion, and provide opportunities for feedback on the developer proposals.

  1. Online: Recording of Presentations and Additional Materials

The June 10th video of the developer presentations will also be posted online, with the same opportunities for feedback as on June 10th or June 15th. All information will be posted on the Community Portal.

In summary, ways to comment in June include:

  • Submit comments at the June 10 meeting
  • Submit comments at the June 15th CAC meeting
  • Submit comments online through the Community Portal
  • Mail written comments to: Office of Economic and Workforce Development, 1 Dr. Carlton B. Goodlett Pl., Room 448, San Francisco, CA 94102, ATTN: Tom Shanahan

The selection of a developer is only the beginning of a multi-year process that must occur before any development plan is submitted for approvals. During that period, the Balboa Reservoir Community Advisory Committee (BRCAC) will continue to serve as a primary venue for public information and feedback. Community design workshops will be held in 2017 and 2018 to discuss issues like site design, housing, open space and transportation in more detail. To receive future announcements about BRCAC meetings, visit http://sf-planning.org/brcac and click the orange “Stay Informed” button.
