With the exception of Monterey Blvd it appears Sunnyside isn’t slated to the new lights.

Recent articles about the program:

A recent email conversation with a staff member of the LED conversion project yielding these interesting facts about the LED lights being installed by SFPUC:

  • We have specified LED street lights with a correlated color temperature (CCT) of 3,000° Kelvin. This is a significantly warmer color temperature than those [used elsewhere that have raised objections in residents].
  • In addition, the LED fixtures come equipped with an optional house-side shield to mitigate backlight.
  • As a further measure, the City of San Francisco plans to match existing street lighting levels on City streets to prevent over illumination.
  • The new LED street lights project all of their light down and thus minimize light pollution. This is an improvement over many of the City’s current lights. Installing new LEDs will help to reduce light pollution.
