News About the Shared Schoolyard Project Expansion!

Supervisor Mark Farrell
I wanted to share some great news with you. This morning the San Francisco Chronicle published an article on the front page of the Bay Area section that highlights a program I am spearheading — the San Francisco Shared Schoolyard Project. I encourage you to read that article here.

Some of my fondest memories growing up in San Francisco were playing on the local schoolyard with my father and friends – it was simply a part of a kid’s existence in San Francisco. I am thrilled that we are able to provide that same experience for children and families now in San Francisco. By opening our schoolyards on the weekends for the community, we are taking steps that will help keep families in the city.

I invite you to learn more about the project at www.sfsharedschoolyard.org. To date, we’ve raised the funds to open up 28 public schoolyards across the City and am thrilled to announce that we will be able to open up 80 schoolyards in total by the end of next year. Sign up at www.sfsharedschoolyard.org to be notified about events at your local schoolyard.
