“We have a special volunteer opportunity that would allow you to be an integral member of one of the San Francisco Food Bank’s Food Drives.
Safeway and our local NBC affiliate partner together to do a food drive each holiday season. As part of their new format for food drives, they are putting together a pre-packaged bag that customers can purchase for $10 and then donate to the Food Bank. This was drive was a huge success last year and we’re hoping for the same this year. As part of this drive, Safeway is staging a volunteer event on Saturday, November 17 at all regional Safeway locations. We would like to provide 2-4 people at each San Francisco Safeway location for 3-4 hours on that day. The volunteers will be there to promote the food drive and hand out flyers to customers. We also will provide the volunteers with information about the San Francisco Food Bank to share with the public as needed.
The volunteers should be able to operate autonomously as we will not be able to have staff at each location. We anticipate scheduling an orientation for volunteers prior to Nov. 17 to provide t-shirts and other materials for the volunteers to take with them to their respective Safeway store.
We are putting out the call for 40 volunteers, we expect the shift to fill quickly and volunteers will be reserved on a first-come first-reserved basis. This is an open call to individuals, groups, friends, etc. If this is an event you are interested in participating in, please send an email directly to abreunig@sffb.org
If you have any questions before deciding whether this is a good opportunity for you, please do not hesitate to send me an email so I can clarify the project.
Thanks for your time and I look forward to hearing back from you,
