There are have a few incidences in Sunnyside that reminds us all that we need to be proactive in preventing and becoming a victim of crime.
Recently, there was a home burglary on Monterey Blvd. and an attempted robbery on Judson Ave. in front of a CCSF building. While Sunnyside remains a very safe neighborhood, we need to make sure we continue to protect ourselves and lower our risk of being a crime victim.
CCSF and SFPD continue to keep us informed of safety and crime issues in our neighborhood. A link to their websites can be found on the Links page of this website.
It is important to protect yourself. Small things, such as staying alert of your surroundings, make a big impact. Other suggestions include:
- Make sure your cars and homes are locked and secure and avoid keeping valuables in sight
- Having your keys out and ready to enter your car and/or home
- Deter having your mobile devices out in public and on buses, avoid having conversations on them – this can show you’re distracted
- Walk with confidence and pay attention to your body language
- Try to avoid walking alone – safety in numbers
If you have been a victim of crime, contact emergency services at 911.
