Friends of the Urban Forest (FUF) will be conducting a tree planting in Sunnyside on Saturday, July 21st.
Neighborhood Tree Planting
FUF will plant trees in any neighborhood of San Francisco where at least 30 trees are requested. Plantings are initially organized by a volunteer Neighborhood Organizer who works to generate interest for the planting and gets local neighbors (property owners) signed up. They do not plant trees in backyards.
The plantings generally happen on Saturday mornings, and are group efforts that involve the neighborhood residents themselves, and FUF volunteers and staff. They are usually finished by noon, and they conclude each planting with a potluck lunch in the neighborhood for everyone involved!
Subsidized Prices
For new trees, the price of the tree planting package is $105 plus a $30 FUF membership (if you’re not already a member). This includes the tree itself, concrete removal, all related stakes and arbor ties, and two tree care visits at 2 and 18 months after the trees have been planted. Additional details here.
