It doesn’t matter whether you’re from Glen Park or Glendora — you’ll feel like part of the neighborhood. The Glen Park Festival is a great time and a great cause! We hope you’ll join us on Sunday, April 29th. Each year, the festival features local artists and craftspeople, neighborhood schools, local restaurants, community organizations and city agencies. Finding the Festival
The festival is held right in San Francisco’s Glen Park village, along Diamond Street between Bosworth and Chenery, as well as extending down Wilder street. Chances are, if you live in the neighborhood you pass through here most every day.
The Glen Park BART station is right across the street and will be running Sunday hours during the festival. The MUNI routes 44 O’Shaugnessy, 36 Teresita and 52 Excelsior also pass right by; the J Church metro line is a block away. Street parking in the area tends to be hard to find on festival day, so we recommend taking public transit if possible.

Bring the Family!
The Glen Park neighborhood is full of families, and the 2011 Festival was a fantastic event for everyone, especially the kids! For the 2012 festival we expect to run a full slate of acts at the main stage, plus jumpy houses, performers, and other events specifically for kids in the children’s area at the end of Wilder Street and elsewhere.

Master of Ceremonies: Misisipi Mike Wolf
Songwriter and guitarist Misisipi Mike Wolf, who will rock the stage with his Midnight Gamblers, also serves as the Festival’s MC and DJ. Mike is the founding member of a variety of bands, including Misisipi Rider, The Bootcuts and The Ardent Sons. In 2011 he was voted “Best Singer/Songwriter” by readers of the SF Bay Guardian. His music has been featured on NPR, HBO, Showtime, Canadian Broadcasting, ABC, and KQED. When he is not playing shows, he is at his day gig, making posters and music merchandise for his company, Eyeball Pleasing Posters. Between sets, Mike will spin records by local musicians and call the crowd to gather around for each new act.
Gayle Schmitt and the Toodala Ramblers
Come dance, sing, and tap your toes with local children’s musician Gayle Schmitt and her bluegrass-pickin’ Ramblers as they present a fun-filled performance of bluegrass, mountain, and folk music for kids. With fiddle, banjo, mandolin, and bass they’ll set your feet a-stompin’ – fun for the whole family! Kentucky-born Gayle Schmitt has released two Parent’s Choice Award-winning CDs featuring homemade tunes as well as bluegrass and old-time songs for kids. She has taught music and movement classes for children throughout the Bay Area for more than 12 years.
Misisipi Mike and the Midnight Gamblers
The Midnight Gamblers travel round parts somewhere between Whiskeytown and Willie Nelson, halfway around the bend from Waylon and just down the old highway from that country boy Nick Lowe. What else would you expect from a group led by a guy who founded bands such as Calamity & Main and the Plain High Drifters? The band includes award-winning songwriter Misisipi Mike Wolf on guitar and vocals, Mike Anderson on bass, Leif Karlstrom on fiddle, Dave “Monk” Flores on piano, Adam “Roscoe” Roszkiewicz on lead guitar and Mr. Tony Sales on drums.
Jinx Jones and the KingTones
Jinx Jones, once called “Man of a Thousand Riffs,” is a versatile guitarist who’s lent his strings to jazz, pop and rockabilly tunes – as well as En Vogue’s megahit “Free Your Mind.” But for Jones, rockabilly’s where it’s at. With his trio the KingTones (including Whisky Pills on upright bass, returning to the Festival after his appearance with Whisky Pills Fiasco last year), Jones will treat the Glen Park crowd to some truly tasty licks that will make you want to break out your creepers and grease your hair. Jones is one axeman who takes his “License to Twang” seriously.
District 8
District 8 is a five-piece rock band from the neighborhood that has been playing all around the city, and will finally make some home-turf noise on the Glen Park Festival stage. Playing a mix of original tunes and cover songs, District 8 is a rip-roaring amalgamation of roots, prog and indie elements joyfully forged in the fires of Hades, lovingly bolted together and fearlessly driven through a brick wall. Come rock out with your friends from around the block.
Pangea
The original Pangea was born in the summer of 2007 from a big family of soccer lovers in San Francisco. This international community, passionate for the game, harbored many musical talents from all corners of the Earth. The original nine members represented every continent – a diversity Pangea hasn’t lost through time or lineup changes. Pangea is a spiral of international sound influenced by flavors from the Americas, Arabic melodies, African rhythms, Gypsy harmonies, Asian scales, and European overnights. Come enjoy the festive and worldly mix of sounds.
